Pet insurance is probably the most important decision you will need to make for your puppy.

Pet insurance will cover approx. 80% of your vets costs if something should go wrong and I know only too well how specialists costs can easily end up in the thousands of dollars.

We never know what life is going to throw at us but being prepared makes all the difference and takes away the burden of having to try to find the money for urgent treatment that maybe needed and to know your dog is covered for these sorts of things really does help. Another thing that some people do not realise that if you don't have the funding sometimes the only option the vet will offer you is euthanasia. Having to tell your children that Mummy and Daddy had to send their dog to heaven because they did not have the money to treat their best mate will be one of the hardest things you will ever have to do. Most Pet Insurance costs around $11 per week & seriously I am sure everyone spends more than that at Maccas or on junk food each week.

These are the Pet insurance companies that were advertised in our Vet Journal magazine. I am hoping this will help make things a little easier when purchasing your puppy's insurance. Please check for accident and illness as well as when the insurance company stops insuring your dog. This is always in the fine print. I have only found 1 Pet Insurance company that covers your pet for its life time all the other's terminate your insurance when your dog turns 9 years of age, just when you need their help. This company is called Pet Med.
